At the end of last year, I posted about the Hackaday Remoticon and the SMD Challenge, unfortunately, by the time the event was held I had a work trip, and the SMD Challenge kit didn’t arrived on time before the trip. After some months I hosted a livestream on YouTube to assemble the kit and check how were my skills on soldering small super small components.
Unfortunately I had some problems during the livestream because my laptop started dropping frames and the video isn’t smooth enough to watch the whole process. But, to sum up, I was able to solder all the components within an hour, with exception of the 0201 LED. Then, off camera and using a better tip on the soldering iron I tried to solder the smallest LED, but I lose it and couldn’t find it anymore.
So, I only had to solder the pin to fix the circuit onto a t-shirt or a backpack. I used a brush and some isopropilic alcohol mixed with water to remove the flux and clean the board.
The Hackaday Remoticon had some interesting talks, most of them were recorded and are available at the playlist Remoticon 2020 on Hackaday’s YouTube channel.
