PICKit 2 Clone ICSP

Based on a post from some months (or years) ago, PICKit 2 Clone ZIF Socket, I wanted to share another version of the PICKit 2 Clone. This design was developed by Suky and Felixls.

This programmer doesn’t have a ZIF socket, but it has an ICSP (In Circuit Serial Programming) connector, so we don’t need to remove the PIC from the circuit. The pin distribution is similar to the original PICKit 2 as follows:

  1. VPP/MCLR
  2. VDD Target
  3. VSS (Ground)
  4. ICSPDAT/PGD
  5. ICSPCLK/PGC
  6. Auxiliary

The programmer has a jumper that allows us to choose the supply voltage between 3.3V and 5V. This programmer can also be used with MPLAB IDE, making it possible to debug programs.

The schematic and PCB can be found on Suky’s webpage. Suky’s webpage is currently down, but the files can be found at this link: PicKit2_Clone_5V3.3V.
